Today, education is seen as a mere means of livelihood. The basic principles and values needed in life are neglected. The best mentor to humanity is an education that gives self-motivation, self-direction, and self-correction.
It is the most powerful tool of humanity. Education prepares us for life and moulds us into well-rounded individuals. This fosters a golden era referred to in the Indian Puranas as Satya Yuga and when this education is neglected, it propels us to pralaya or destruction.
World's first University based on the Vedanta curriculum
The team at the Vedanta Wisdom Trust in Mumbai led by the Managing Trustee – Dr. Janki Santoke is building the World’s First Vedanta University that will educate students on “How to Live Life” as enshrined in our great ancient scriptures; Vedanta. The Vedanta Wisdom University is being proposed for imparting the right education and to teach students the art of balanced living.
Dr. Janki Santoke studied with Swami Parthasarathy for many decades. She also holds a Ph. D in Philosophy. She is key in envisioning the Vedanta Wisdom University. Her motive is to encourage the younger generation to live a productive and happy life by following the principles of Vedanta.
About the University
The proposed university will be constructed on a 25-acre property in Raigad district, Maharashtra. The university will impart liberal education. Students will be trained to be life-ready, not just career-ready through fully residential undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate programs. The UG and PG programs are designed by experts based on the Vedanta system of education. Diploma, short-term courses, and certificate courses are also offered.
The university will have multiple classrooms, an AV room, 250-seater auditorium, yoga room, sports facilities, gym, amphitheater, hostel block for 200 students, admin block, and a large water body. The university will be eco-friendly with its own waste disposal system, solar panels, etc.
Products of the University
After their study, students can take up any career of their choice. And be a value addition to it! They could be entrepreneurs, artists, counsellors, politicians, writers, innovators. Anything that requires original thinking. In every field, they would bring in qualities enshrined in Vedanta like clarity, service, and dexterity. This renders their personality well balanced in head, heart and hand.
They may also become teachers of Vedanta who could initiate further ventures for getting this knowledge to all of humanity. Today, almost anyone can teach Vedanta and does not have to provide any credentials for it. This is akin to someone practicing medicine without a necessary degree. Having professional degrees in Vedanta will go a long way in maintaining its teaching standards. Especially, when it permeates down to school level education.
The Curriculum
1. The core education is based on principles of life and living as laid down in Vedanta and the Bhagavad Gita
2. Allied subjects: (a) Clearer Thinking (b) Emotional health (c) Physical well-being (d) Sanskrit (e) IT education (f) Culture and mythology, etc.
All students will follow a daily schedule starting from 4:45 am to 9 pm. This will inculcate a lifetime discipline for a productive and happy life.

The Cost
The total project cost is currently estimated at INR 108 Crores. The Land cost will be about INR 5 crores, construction and interiors will be about INR 88 crores and the balance of INR 15 crores will be operational expenses.
